Conipave RA -
Rubber Aggregate - Permeable Pavings
Sustainable Urban Drainage Solutions
Slip- resistant, porous paving that may not need planning permission - introducing CONIPAVE RA - the paving solution for pedestrians bicycle and equestrian traffic.
Areas of impervious pavement (such as concrete or asphalt) usually require specific planning approval or building permission. This is often involves a lengthy application process including detailed assessment of water run-off, measures to be taken to control it and the construction of costly drainage systems.
CONIPAVE RA is fully porous, allowing water to drain through the surface which can simplify or eliminate the planning restrictions.

CONIPAVE RA is an alternative for walking and cycling routes - instead of asphalt and concrete in the form of the CONIPAVE RA base, which is a blend of (decorative natural) brushed stones, rubber granulate from recycled rubber and binders. This is an optimal basis for parks and outdoor walks which, due to their strength, durability and at the same time their flexibility, bring lower loads to the joints, thus reducing the possibility of prolonged injuries (wear of joints).
Importantly it supports wheelchair users, prams and buggies, which is a requirement for most public areas.
Composed of black rubber granules and a variety of decorative aggregates, the permeable surface is bound with a specially formulated moisture curing polyurethane binder - giving good grip and resilience.
When constructed on a suitable base, CONIPAVE RA is fully porous and meets the requirements for SUDs (Sustainable Urban Drainage Solutions).
The advantage of the CONIPAVE RA substrate is water tightness (EN 14877 certificate) resistance to slip (EN 13036-4) and long-lasting durability, therefore it can be used in all urban areas for footpaths, cycling routes, sidewalks, as well as for golf courses parks and under trees (water permeability). For easy and quick installation, no large machines are needed, it is especially suitable for parks.
CONIPAVE RA substrates for walking and cycling routes can be laid on each hardened substrate, including asphalt and concrete. The thickness is dependent on the base surface, while you can choose between four standard color combinations and others according to the customer's preferences.
Thickness of the substrate CONIPAVE RA:
- on asphalt or concrete: 25 mm
- hardened sand base: 35 mm
- other hardened substrates: 50 mm (earth, grass, etc.)

Benefits of using CONIPAVE RA permeable paving are:
- It allows for effective water drainage into the ground, reducing risk of flooding
- Reduces or eliminates planning requirments
- It is simple to install
- It is very low maintenance
- It is part recycled, using recycled rubber granules from used tyres, further benefiting the enviroment
- It does not necessarily require newly engineered base
- The continuous surface is wheelchair friendly
- It is an ideal surface for footpaths, cycle ways, tree surrounds, playground walkways, graveyard pathways, canal and river paths, rural pathways, equestrian trails and bridleways.
