Playtop EPDM Rubber Mulch is installed in conjuction with our recycled base layer so it can meet all the critical fall height requirements of our standard systems.

Timber cushionfall will always have its place as a great natural playground surface but in the following instances Playtop EPDM Rubber Mulch might be a preferred option.

Where weather events make the constant replacement of timber cushionfall uneconomical.

Playtop EPDM Rubber Mulch is optimally suitable for everyone who is looking for a durable, colour resitant alternative to timber cushionfall. EPDM Rubber Mulch is manufactured as a virgin product and is 100% dyed through. This means that its colour doesnt ‘wear out’ - even after several years.

A recycled ‘colour coated’ rubber mulch might sound environmentally friendly but this means importing used tyre chip which has been colour coated. Because this coating does not last long term (rubbing/crawling areas) it will lose its esthetically pleasing appearance to a blackish ‘rubbed off’ look before the initial cost can be justified and it’s eventual replacement becomes inevitable.

Playtop can supply and install recycled colour coated mulch at the insistence of the customer but do not recommend it
